Coach Gary Mullins

Me

When I started running, I had just one hour, enough for a warm-up, drills, session, and cool down. As I dialled in my training, I noticed many of my sessions lasted 32 minutes. That structure is still part of my coaching today. The name 32racing came later, inspired by my love of F1, NASCAR, and the mindset of athletes like Shane Warne and Michael Jordan, icons who didn’t just compete, they outthought the field.
32racing is about structure, strategy, and development... for you.

I’ve been coaching runners for over 20 years. I’ve worked with first timers and world class athletes. I’ve raced everything from 800m to 100km. I have represented Australia three times and managed teams at World Championships.

I’ve run a 2:31 marathon, 7:12 for 100k, and 2:03 for 800m. I’ve coached national reps, age group podium finishers, and determined everyday runners chasing more.

But none of that really matters if I can’t help you.
That’s the point of coaching, to take someone where they haven’t been before.

This isn’t a download and go system. I don’t hand you a template and disappear. I coach. I problem solve. I build runners.

The Method Behind It All – PLORSI

My system is built on six pillars:

  • Practical: The plan must work in the real world.
  • Logic: Everything has a reason.
  • Observation: I adjust based on what I see and what you tell me.
  • Research: I’ve read thousands of articles and papers, and I keep learning.
  • Science: I use physiology, not fads.
  • Individual: There’s no one-size-fits-all. There never will be.

PLORSI is how I make sure the coaching fits the runner, not the other way around.

Why I Coach

Because I know what it feels like to chase something.
To be stuck. To doubt. To come back from injury. To want more but not know what’s missing.

I coach because this process matters. It shapes people. It teaches resilience.
And because when it’s done right, it changes lives not just race times.

I don’t care if you’re trying to break 5 hours or break records.

If you’re all in, so am I.
